According to the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation in BC, it’s the employer’s responsibility to implement an occupational health and safety (OHS) program to prevent employee workplace injury and disease. All businesses in Canada are required by law to have an occupational health and safety program developed and implemented for each work site.

OHS safety programs in British Columbia must meet certain safety regulations and standards. This ensures that the employer is exercising due diligence in taking steps to meet WorkSafeBC regulations and standards.
